The Azores are a Portuguese archipelago made up of nine islands, located in the heart of the Atlantic Ocean.
Faial Island, part of the Central Group, has the shape of an irregular pentagon and covers an area of 173.42 km². It is approximately 21 km long and 14 km at its widest point.
The island's highest peak is Cabeço Gordo, standing at 1,043 metres above sea level. Faial is home to numerous attractions showcasing the island's stunning natural beauty, earning it the nickname "The Blue Island." The city of Horta, known as the maritime capital of the Azores, is divided into three parishes, including Matriz, where our accommodation is located.
Horta Bay is renowned as a safe harbour for sailors crossing the Atlantic and is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful natural harbours in the world.
